Seewire Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 7, 2026
Seewire (the "app") is made by Wavefound ("we"), a sole proprietorship in South Korea run by Byeongchul Oh (business registration no. 604-30-10608). This policy explains what data the app handles and why.
Contact: contact@wavefound.net. Person in charge of personal information protection: Byeongchul Oh.
Summary
- No account and no sign-in.
- Your photos and recordings stay on your phone. We never receive them.
- We only receive problem reports that you choose to send. They are stored with Google Firebase in the United States and deleted automatically 90 days after we receive them.
- The free version shows one Google AdMob banner in the gallery. Google collects data such as your advertising ID to show ads. If you buy Pro, the app doesn't load ads.
1. Problem reports
- When: only when you tap Send on the problem report screen, and then Agree and send on the confirmation screen, which shows what will be sent, where it is stored and for how long. Before that, the app doesn't connect to our servers.
- Always included: a report number (random, for example SW-7K2M-Q9XD, plus the original number if it follows up an earlier report), the time the report was created, the app version, phone details (manufacturer, model, Android version, security patch, build information, chipset, kernel version), details of the connected USB camera (vendor and product ID (VID:PID) and the device information the camera reports; serial numbers are removed), connection diagnostics results, connection logs (state changes and their times, error codes, transfer statistics, the first 32 bytes of video frames that could not be read), recent lines of the app's log, compatibility settings you changed, and recent app exit reasons.
- Only if you choose: the problem type you pick (for example, "No video"), a description you type (up to 500 characters), reproduction data (3 seconds of the video data from the camera; it contains whatever the camera sees), and experimental connection logs (when you try the experimental connection with some non-standard cameras).
- Why: to find and fix connection and compatibility problems, and to answer you in the app.
- Legal basis (EEA, UK): your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given on the confirmation screen. Sending a report is voluntary; you can use every other feature without it. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete the report (Section 8).
- Retention: 90 days from receipt, then deleted automatically, including any copies we download for analysis. Camera information that cannot identify you (IDs and device information, without serial numbers) may be kept as compatibility test data.
- Please don't type personal details, such as your name or contact details, in the description.
2. Checking for answers
If you have sent reports, the app checks whether an answer has arrived: when you open Sent problem reports, and once a day when you open the app while a report is waiting for an answer (up to 30 days after sending). The request contains only the report number. Answers are deleted automatically 180 days after we post them.
3. Email
If you email contact@wavefound.net, we use your email address and message to answer you and to handle deletion or refund requests. Emails to this address are received by Cloudflare Email Routing and forwarded to our Gmail account (Section 4). We keep them for 1 year after the matter is closed, and purchase or refund records for up to 3 years where Korean consumer protection law requires it.
4. Service providers and international transfers
Problem reports and answers are stored with Google Firebase (Google LLC) in the United States (Oregon). Google processes this data on our behalf. Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity check that requests come from the genuine app; for this, Google processes device details such as the model and Android version, and an integrity token from Google Play. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Transfers from the EEA and the UK rely on the safeguards in Google's data processing terms.
Emails to contact@wavefound.net are received by Cloudflare Email Routing (Cloudflare, Inc., United States), which forwards them to our Gmail account (Google LLC, United States). Cloudflare says it does not store or access the content of the emails it routes; it may keep a delivery log (sender, recipient, subject). Gmail stores the emails and our replies for the period in Section 3. Transfers from the EEA and the UK rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension.
5. Advertising (free version)
- The free version shows one Google AdMob banner below the gallery when you have photos or videos. There are no ads on the camera screen or while connecting.
- When an ad loads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app sends Google: your advertising ID and app set ID; your IP address (which may be used to estimate your approximate location); app interactions such as app launches, taps and video views; and diagnostic information such as app launch time.
- Google uses this data to show ads (including personalized ads where allowed), to measure ads and to prevent fraud, under the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We don't receive this data; we only see aggregate reports in AdMob.
- Your choices: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message appears before the first ad, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad consent settings. If you buy Pro, the app doesn't load ads or the consent message.
6. Payments
Purchases are processed by Google Play. We don't receive your card details. To handle refunds and purchase questions, we can see order information in Google Play Console, such as the order number, product and status. Your Pro status is stored on your phone and is not sent to us. The app connects to Google Play billing only when you open the Pro screen, buy or restore a purchase (and at app start only while a payment is still pending or a purchase still needs confirming); at those times the Google Play Billing Library may send diagnostic logs about billing to Google.
7. Data that stays on your phone
The following stays on your phone and is never sent to us: photos, recordings and time-lapse videos; measurements, annotations and calibrations; what you enter in inspection reports (author, company, site, customer, contact, notes) and the last PDF you made; your watermark text and logo; your list of sent problem reports (latest 20) and unsent drafts; your Pro status and settings. Uninstalling the app removes the app's own data. Photos and videos are saved in your phone's media storage and stay until you delete them. An inspection report PDF leaves the app only when you tap Save as or Share and choose where it goes.
8. Permissions
- Camera (required): Android requires it for USB cameras. The app doesn't use your phone's own cameras.
- USB access (required): Android asks each time you plug in a new camera.
- Microphone (optional): to record sound with videos, and for the sound check in connection diagnostics (the check doesn't record, save or send anything). Without it, videos are recorded without sound.
- Notifications (optional): to show that recording or a time-lapse continues when the screen is off. Without it, both still work, but you may not see the notification.
The app doesn't ask for location, contacts, or access to the photos and videos already on your phone. You can change permissions at any time in your phone's settings.
9. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw your consent. In the EEA and the UK you can also ask for a copy in a portable format and complain to your data protection authority. Because we don't collect names or contact details, we find your report by its number, shown in Settings > Sent problem reports. Email contact@wavefound.net with the report number and what you want us to do. If you don't have the number, tell us the date you sent it, your phone model and your camera's name, and we will look for it. We reply within 10 days.
10. Security
- Reports and answers travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- The app can only add new reports to storage. It can't read, list, change or delete any report. An answer can be read only by someone who knows its report number.
- Firebase App Check checks that requests come from the genuine app.
- The app contains no secret server keys, and only our account manages the storage.
- We collect only what we need: no serial numbers, photos, recordings, location or contacts.
11. Children
The app isn't directed to children and doesn't ask your age. If we learn that a problem report contains a child's data, we delete it. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete it as described in Section 9.
12. No automated decisions
We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
13. Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page at least 7 days before it takes effect, or 30 days before for important changes. Earlier versions stay at the bottom of this page.
